Reciprocal and Unrequited Love

In my, good friend’s Sidney Laud Sai Schandorf note dated on the July, 31 2012 timed at 17:00 hrs GMT which he posted on Facebook, he gave his view which explains the reason why the reciprocity is a requisite in the perfection of christian love, while most of the time when he writes i make comments in support of his view point. This time i have moved from making comments but rather write my view in support to his claim, because i feel that there is more points to which this topic should be extensively discussed in Christian society.
The requiting of Love, in the circle of the humans and the divine relationship, begin mainly Jehovah is undeniable the most mysterious relationship between a deity and man. One which borders on the lines of selfishlessness by God and selfishness by humans. Therefore many have a totally different view of the Almighty’s provision of grace onto his children. This has driven many away from the church and ultimately God himself. God’s love for his created is by no means impartial yet we find God making comments like “Yet i have loved Isaac but Easu i have hated”[1]. Is this indicative of the fact that God has a bias towards some people and hate others, for example does God hate homosexuals and love heterosexuals, does he hate Buddhist or Muslims and love Christians. Does he hate divorcees and love married people.
Questions like this is quite common now a days among the young people who are constantly been bombarded with varying conflicting views of doctrines in Christianity and other world views. The word says for lack of knowledge my people perish but i say today for the abundance of information make my people perish because all these information but still people have not come to the realization of who, what, why God His. This means people have the information but they cannot do anything with it, and this burden lies heavily on my heart.
Genesis 1:26  Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness,
“Yet it was both an honor and a favor to him that he was made last: an honor, for the method of the creation was to advance from that which was less perfect to that which was more so; and a favor, for it was not fit he should be lodged in the palace designed for him till it was completely fitted up and furnished for his reception[2]. Sidney Schandorf stated Thus our Love for God expressed in love does not exist in vacuum but is driven by the love God has already demonstrated to us We love because he first loved us.” [3]
We as created begins of the master were not the first to show our love to the master, rather He created a perfect world and placed prefect begins i.e humans in it to be Lords of God’s possessions. Thus man was given a task to tend, care and produce offspring who will also be taught of God’s love and love God back.
How was man to love God? By service, this service was to be mabe in the obedience to the instruction “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”[4] indicative of the fact that God is very much in expectantation of our appreciation of the love he provides and there are no compromises for us to love him back, thus God demands our love also. In that when we worship God  we echo God’s Love which has imparted our lives and we mirror back in our holiness, service to each other by the love for our neighbor, removing every kind of malice, deceit, envy, sexual immorality.
The likeness to which you and i were made in is the indicator of how much we have the tendency to Love God totally and wholly. “Love the Lord Your God with all your heart, mind, your strength”-Deut 5 vs. 6, Mat 22 vs. 37. What then drives man to be inappreciative of God’s love?
Jeremiah 2:5  This is what the LORD says: “What fault did your fathers find in me, that they strayed so far from me? They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves.
If disappointment is the difference between expectation and reality then the Lord’s expectations has been met[2]. Here God question the nation of Israel if they have anything to which they were in expectant of and he God did not provide. Therefore as long as God allows the sun, rain air life to be given to all man we must requite the Love to God not for his benefit as many think but rather to benefit mankind themself. Yet upon this great devotion to humans, we find ways to say “what a burden[5]”. Many feel goaded to requite their Love to God some do for fear not of God but of his fellow man, denomination his sect and they think of God’s love as one which demands too much while others are made to feel that requiting of our Love to God is the quickest way to financial prosperity. That’s no means to reciprocate God’s Love the only way is through the path of grace, grace is the fulfilling truth to the promise of reciprocity in completing the circle of Love.
Romans 1:5  5 Through him and for his name’s sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.
The way of grace by which we can demonstrate our Love, removes every notion of compulsion and places the power within the hands of the willing, thus making it freely accessible, thus i need not give only material substances but give my spiritual side that’s my heart the organ mainly associated with love, my mind the organ associated with rationalization and body the organ associate with holiness. The three parts of the human is the means to which one can exhibit his love, And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,[6]
I say grace is the way which empowers the weak who desire to requite their love to God in the same measure as to which he frist loves us. So by grace Abraham could offer the same gift that God has given him that’s his son Isaac, by grace Moses left a life in a palace to become a leader to people who constantly complained in a dessert with no robes and crowns. By grace David, Samuel, the prophets all were found worthy to gain a place in the express word of God that’s the scriptures. Many would find this familiar, yes, it found in Hebrews 11 but one may say why have you used grace instead of faith because grace is the foundation of faith and without faith one cannot please God.
Zechariah 12:10  10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication.
The spirit of grace is that which brings us to the point of submission and we are faced with the truth of ourselves how selfish, envious and sexual immoral people we are  unless there is a provision of grace found in the Son of God we cannot free ourselves from this bondage. This grace is for your own good?[7]”.
Sin is the refusal to reciprocate our love to God and like anyone who refuse love by not loving back that love is take away from them. When God’s love which include life is taken away from us we are faced with death. We all who did not love God because of sin must now pay, “for the wages of sin is death”, the only substitute for death is life, and we have no life in us but of the one provided to us by God when were created so to gain.
“The essence of grace is salvation from sin, to be saved from “seeking our own”. Lucifer sought his own, and sin came into the universe. Jesus never sought His own, and thus brought salvation”[8]. To this end your refusal to accept Jesus Christ is the definite indicator of you not willing to love God for all the gracious gifts.
Reciprocating love is the way to live a righteous and holy live and unrequited love is the way of sin and destruction. This season of easter reminds us of the love God gave to mankind in other to bring reconciliation and redemption to his children and for this reason look into your live and ask yourself how have i loved God? By my own way or by the way of salvation through his only begotten son Jesus Christ who laid down is divinity on the cross and death so we can have a total sanctification that comes from the love of his father.
